Even with the summer season dying down a bit, you may still have some unfinished fitness goals that you would like to extend into the upcoming fall season. Need to get into that little black dress? Maybe you just would like to obtain a flatter mid section? There is one method of exercise that can essentially conquer both of these goals in a cinch, and that is the sport of yoga.
Yoga is referred to as a form of relaxation or meditation, but do not allow that label to fool you. Yoga is what keeps tight abdominals in place and it also helps your posture and makes you have a longer and lean body. How can all of this be possible just by standing in different poses? Simple, the muscles become trained to hold these poses in position for a few minutes or seconds at a time and with practice, you begin to hold the poses even longer. The longer you hold the poses, the more toned you become and the better your body looks. Yoga is very good at being one of the only types of exercise that has the ability to tone your core muscles extremely fast. This means having a smaller mid section in no time, as most of the poses encourage the core muscles in the stomach and lower back areas to help control each movement. This can reduce your waistline in a matter of weeks which is just what most people want to fit into those smaller pant sizes in a hurry.
You can also develop very toned arms quickly by doing yoga on a weekly basis. Many poses require you to hold your body weight up with your arms in the poses and also to stretch those arms and hold them as well. Stretching is a great way to get toned quickly and most would not believe how fast the transformation does occur. In just one month of taking yoga classes you may notice better muscle definition than you ever expected in such a short amount of time. It is those fast results that keeps so many sticking to their yoga classes as you simply cannot achieve that through other forms of exercise that are not only more exhausting but do not even burn as many calories as yoga. There are a few types of yoga for you to choose from, so be sure to do some research before you sign up for a very advanced class without ever taking the beginner ones. Take your time developing the art of yoga to work with you and not against you. Some people feel sore the next day and become discouraged from continuing their yoga classes, but this is in fact the exact feeling you are looking for to achieve that svelte figure in just weeks. If you would like to take it a step further for even faster results, consider eating a low fat or non fat diet for a few weeks when you begin your yoga practice as it will boost your body into the shape you always desired and all of your hard work will pay off!
I first started doing yoga in college, I took a class but got discouraged too easy and gave up. Now I do yoga on my Wii Fit! It's pretty cool because I don't even have to leave the house, thus I never have to worry about feeling self-conscious.
