Lunch is just as important as breakfast is during the day for your mind and your body. Many people skip lunch to save time, money and calories and this is not a good idea ever. When you skip lunch you ask your body to become tired and then the afternoon slump of energy comes into effect and your lost trying to get through the rest of your day. Instead try healthy eating lunch foods to promote health and you will notice a big difference in the way you feel for the rest of the day versus how you feel when you do not eat or when you eat unhealthy foods.

Lunch foods to promote health can be in the form of anything that does not contain a good bit of fat or sugar. Foods that have a lot of carbohydrates inside them for extra energy will be exactly what you need to have a burst of energy and stay fit and trim. Choose good carbohydrates such as ones found in vegetables and fruits are the best options. You can find those in potatoes, steamed vegetables and soups are perfect to keep you going during the day and keep your spirits up as well. Add in any form of protein you can find for your lunch as well to help encourage strong bones and muscle development as well. Some other lunch foods for good health are cereals, fresh fruits and yogurts. These are easy to find for lunch, most cafeterias have them as well as almost any fast food restaurant also. You can pack things from home for lunch such as pitas and salads that you can create with any ingredients you like. Choose wheat breads and pita rolls and put as many vegetables you like into the pitas and sandwiches. For salads you can get away with almost any salad toppers, but beware of heavy salad dressings and cheese to use those minimally as they will add a lot of calories to your day and can be quite fattening. Baked potatoes, fruit salads and vegetable dishes are great choices also. If you will be eating lunch while you are at work more than when you are at home, be prepared for those days and select lunch foods to take with you such as rice pilaf or stews to take that are microwavable and ideal for lunches on the go. You can create a large batch of your favorite soups or stews and freeze them and take some for lunch each day to make it easier on you in the mornings trying to plan ahead. Packing your lunch can save you thousands of dollars each year as well. Always buy the supplies you will need for your healthy lunches the week prior so you do become trapped into buying unhealthy selections while you are at work or on the go. Do not waste your money on empty calories and extra weight just by choosing the wrong lunch.

  1. Whole wheat pita bread and turkey. Absolutely delectable! If you can't eat that plain, a quick swipe of light mayo inside the pocket along with some tomatoes, cucumbers and red onions, and a few dabs of spicy mustard(whatever your combination), it makes for a wonderfully tasty and healthy lunch.

  4. I hate to admit it, lol but since it's online I don't mind so much. I am guilty of skipping out on breakfast and lunch, and then pigging out at dinner.
I figure all the calories at once isn't so bad, right?
