Things You Should Know When Having Your Gall Bladder Out

The gall bladder is a small organ that has many uses, in fact most people know nothing about theirs until they experience some form of illness as a result of it. It can produce pain and may even need removed in millions of people, so it is best to learn all about the gall bladder and what you need to consider if your are having surgery.

The gall bladder is tiny, it is part of your body's way of breaking down foods. It generally is used to breakdown fatty foods that you have placed into your system. It can result in developing stones, or "sledge" inside the organ. These two things may seem small in the big scheme of overall health, but they can become extremely painful when not treated properly. The issue seems to be that most people do not have the resources to clearly define if they are truly having gall bladder symptoms or not.

Symptoms of an unhealthy gall bladder are:

Headaches, gas, bloating, cramping in the upper right side of the abdomen, constipation, pain just in between the shoulder blades, light colored stools or indigestion.

These symptoms are so vast that they can all lead to something else being wrong in the body which is why it is best to have it checked out as soon as you feel something may be wrong. The doctors can perform several tests to check and see if that is the case or not. A basic scan of the abdomen area can quickly identify what the issue is. It may not be your gall bladder but something completely else that is causing you pain or discomfort. You may have an issue with your liver, or your pancreas a well which can be much more severe if left untreated so do advise your physician of these conditions to get the proper treatment.

If your doctor has prescribed having the gall bladder removed, you must take your diet seriously just after having the surgery. At first, some patients claim they can feel a cold sensation when they eat or drink something chilled. Having foods that are low in fat and replacing them with ones that are high in fiber and protein along with drinking water on a regular basis with be best for you. Get plenty of rest after the surgery, it may be sore or tender to the touch. Your doctor will prescribe you medications to make you feel better and ease some of that pain. Take them as prescribed and it may be a good idea to do so with some food at first as your body is now learning all over again how to process foods.

Feel Better And Look Younger Through Yoga

Senior citizens have many options to help prevent certain illnesses from developing as well as to achieve a better overall body of health. For example, millions of seniors begin to develop problems with painful joints and arthritis symptoms well after their fifties. For these folks, the best method to feel and look younger is through yoga.

Yoga is one of the best activities for seniors to engage in as it will not cause any additional strain on their joints. Millions of seniors give up on staying active after they have reached a certain age simply due to the lack of mobility and the amount of pain and stiffness they are in. By stretching their bodies on a regular basis through yoga classes, they can essentially reverse most of their pain. Yoga is nothing but a series of poses to encourage increased flexibility and better posture. It can help them maintain their weight as well as prevent high pressure and heart disease. Yoga uses the body to form itself in these poses and then hold them while breathing as instructed in your class for seconds or minutes depending on your level of expertise. For seniors, it can be one of the only forms of exercise that they can endure on a regular basis that does not harm them or require too much cardio endurance to engage in. Most seniors cannot run several miles to maintain an active lifestyle, but they can certainly stand up straight and bend their bodies with a little practice. Think of how a senior citizen may feel if they have such a severe case of arthritis that they cannot tie their shoes or reach for something high on a shelf without enduring extreme pain. How intimidating and frustrating that can be for an older adult to essentially lose many functions they once could complete with very little effort at all. For all of these reasons, yoga can be a very therapeutic process for seniors. It encourages the physical activity they need to loosen up those muscles and joints and to also provide the breathing techniques that can help them reach that level of mental clarity as well.

Yoga classes for seniors should be found in any senior center facilities, or through a private trainer. Many private trainers will come straight to their homes to train them in yoga disciplines, and they can also incorporate the use of balance balls and roller pads that can be very useful to alleviate the pain from arthritis. Be sure to start off slowly if you are a senior that has not been involved in any form of exercise recently and also only do small timeframes for each pose during your first month of yoga training. This means to only hold your poses for a few seconds for each pose and gradually move up holding them one minute and so on. For more privacy, you can also try the yoga videos that are found on the internet or sold in any local department store.

Are You At Risk For Pancreatitis?

You, like millions of others in the world are probably thinking "What is pancreatitis?". It is an illness that attacks the pancreas, and it is something that everyone should know how to prevent. Pancreatitis is uncommon, but when it hits it packs a punch. Are you at risk for pancreatitis?

The pancreas is something very complex that most people take for granted. It is needed for everyday life and you will have to keep it healthy for a lifelong digestive system running smoothly. You use your pancreas every time you eat, and you do need it. Once it becomes ill, it is quite a process to repair it.

Pancreatitis is an illness where the pancreas actually begins to attack itself. Imagine that you have just consumed a large bowl of chili and your pancreas is trying to break that chili down. During the process, it releases enzymes and they begin to basically eat the pancreas apart. The entire episode of a pancreatitis attack is very painful for most sufferers. It can also come along with back pains, diarrhea, vomiting, and fevers.

The pain that is a result of pancreatitis is what usually alarms the patient to head directly to the hospital. The pain is generalized just under the rib cage on the right side. It can become completely unbearable and in these cases, you are better off going to have the pain checked out. Once at the hospital, they will check your blood and from there it will tell the doctors if your results come back with a positive match for the illness. They can identify this by the level of enzymes in your blood, when they are off the charts and too high they know they have a disease such as pancreatitis to treat. From there, they will give you something for the pain that is usually very strong such as morphine. You will not be able to eat any foods by mouth for quite some time. This is not a technique used to punish the patient, it is to be used to allow the pancreas to have a break from trying to digest solid foods.

This disease can come out of nowhere. Some have a rare form that is hereditary, and others have basically self inflicted their pancreas to get it to this state. Certain things such as consuming too much alcohol on a regular basis, drug use and poor dieting can all lead to this result. Stay on a path of low fat foods, drink lots of water and always advise your doctor if you are experiencing any pains in your abdomen, especially the upper sections. In most cases, pancreatitis can be cured or at least treated to the point where you can have a stable life.
