At Home Yeast Infection Treatment Options

Are you suffering from that itch you just can’t scratch? You know, the itch that’s....down there? Well, never fear. Yeast infections are much easier to cure than they used to be. Years and years ago, before yeast infection treatment aides existed, women found that inserting probiotic yogurt into their vaginal canal would help balance out their pH down there and cure their yeast infection. Of course, this did not provide immediate relief or an immediate cure. It still took about 5-7 days of applying this concoction before the user was cured from their yeast infection. However, now a days, there are scientifically concocted treatments.

Vagisil is one of the most publicized forms of yeast infection treatment. It comes in a cream form and also a cream capsule form. It is an anti-fungal that actually works against the yeast in order to cure the affected person. The cream comes in a tube that you can insert into your vagina. Once it coats the affected area, it can burn a little bit and cause the patient some discomfort. The capsule is a bit more painless and provides the user an option of a cleaner insertion. It can still be uncomfortable, but it will not be as uncomfortable as the actual cream. Once the Vagisil is inserted into the vagina, you will need to lay horizontally for 30 minutes to an hour to avoid the treatment cream/capsule from running out of your vagina and not doing its job to cure.

Before you start a yeast infection treatment, you should first make sure that you are actually treating a real yeast infection. Some STDs share the same itchy symptoms as a yeast infection, so you want to ensure that you treat the right thing. The best way to tell if you have a real yeast infection is to look for symptoms. Symptoms include a thick, cottage cheese like discharge coming out of the vagina. The affected person may see these clumps in their under garments. There will also be intense itching that does not subside even after vigorous scratching. If you’ve never had a yeast infection before and you are unfamiliar with what the symptoms look like or feel like, go see your doctor so he can diagnose you with a yeast infection. This is also smart just in case it turns out now to be a yeast infection and is something else. A good rule of thumb to go by is that any time you experience any type of discharge that does not seem normal to you, check with your gynecologist. If you may be experiencing a yeast infection during pregnancy or if you feel some form of yeast male infection, both patients both men and women need to seek the care of a physician. Some can be treated with a home remedy or natural cure, and others can easily be better defined by viewing the pictures of vaginal signs as well as causes of their infection or possibly a form of Candida.

If you do have a yeast infection treatment you are following, it is still recommended that you do not partake in any sexual activity until your yeast infection symptoms are totally gone. The reason for this is, even though it is not necessarily a sexually transmitted disease, it is still a severe, annoying irritation that can leave your vagina susceptible to damage. It can become painful to both you and your partner, so clear it up before you engage in sexual activity.

  1. Yeast infections are the worst!! I personally would recommend Monistat. There is the one day kind (which is more expensive, but worth the extra money because it knocks it out much sooner). It is the type you insert internally and lay flat for 30 min or more, but if you just do it before bedtime it's much more convenient and practical that way.

  2. I only had a problem with these when I was pregnant and occasionally when I was sexually active. Lol, it's been so long for either of those though, but I remember how annoying and uncomfortable those yeast infections are.

  4. Yeah, having sex while having a yeast infection will just make it worse...in my experience.

  5. Vagisil or Monistat, both can work and I think they are around the same price. I'm pretty sure they have the generic out for Monistat though.
